- With 36 years of experience, he is now a retired professor at the Hislop College Nagpur.
- Vijay was watching children in slums play football on a wet July day 2001. Vijay observed that when they indulged themselves in sports they were far away from the other activities. This led him to decide that he wanted to make a change. for The underprivileged. Vijay and his associates planned to host a football tournament in which slum kids could participate.
- He received 18 Lakh after his retirement from which he bought land of about 9 km from Nagpur and built an academy of football for The underprivileged
- In 2001, he founded slum soccer Krida Vikas Sanstha Nagpur (KSVN), which runs football programmes and provides a chance of rehabilitation to the deprived section of society. Nagpur hosted the inaugural tournament, which saw 128 participants.
- In 2003, he launched his first Jhopadpatti Football Tournament, a state-level event in Nagpur. The tournament attracted 15 different districts in Maharashtra, including one from Gadricholi’s tribal belt (later champions).
- In Nagpur, the All India Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Jhopadpatti Football Tournament took place in the same year. Twelve Indian states were represented (Orissa won it’s inaugural event).
