Hansen was born in Utah on April 15, 1978. Hansen began playing basketball when he was at Mountain View High School. He averaged 18.6 point per game and 7.5 rebounds, as well as 7.5 assists, during his time at Mountain View High School. In 1996, his school was named Region Champions as well as Consolation Champions.
Hansen continued his basketball career at Utah Valley State College. Then he transferred from Utah Valley State College into Brigham Young University, where he received a degree in Health Science. Additionally, he attended Duke University to earn a certificate for non-profit management.
He was an All-MWC, MWC Defensive Play of the Year and All-District winner during his time at BYU.
Hansen was selected in 2003 by the Atlanta Hawks as their draft pick. His first season saw him play 41 games. He started four of them and averaged 3 points per contest. Due to a stress fracture to his right foot, he couldn’t play the following 40 games. He played 41 minutes against the Bolton Celtics and was able to score 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
After one season with Atlanta Hawks, he signed a two-year deal with TAU Ceramica, with whom he won the 2005 Spanish Supercup, the 2006 Spanish King’s Cup, and back-to-back appearances in EuroLeague Final. Hansen went on to play with Dynamo Moscow, Khimi and Real Madrid.
He retired from the NBA in 2011 and has since been involved in many entrepreneurial ventures. In 2013, he co-founded the company called “Life Credit”. Tesani Companies is also his creation. This holding company is located in the United States and it invests in, purchases, and starts other amazing businesses.
Hansen also has been active in charitable activities. Hansen, his wife LaRee and the Little Heroes Foundation were founded in 2007. The foundation was later named the Sunshine Heroes Foundation. The foundation helped built 10 children’s centers around the world including in places like Africa, Russia, Thailand, Nepal, Panama, and Nicaragua.
Hansen’s personal life is dominated by his wife LaRee. Hansen and LaRee have five kids together. They live in Mapleton Utah.
