Styles P was conceived by David R. Styles in Corona, Queens. He was born on 28 November 1974. His father is Jamaican and his mother is South African. Styles was raised primarily by his mother after his parents divorced.
Gary, his mother, and younger brother settled permanently in Yonkers after he was separated. On 13 May 2001, he lost his brother in an automobile accident. Two of his closest friends were found in Yonkers as he grew up. Sheek LouchJadakiss had the same passion as him for hip hop.

Styles P is a married couple who got engaged to Adjua on 31 July 1995. He is the stepfather of Adjua’s two kids named Noah and Tai, who were born from his wife’s previous relationship. Tai, his stepdaughter, committed suicide in 2015. Styles and his wife, Adjua has made an appearance on the 16th season of the reality TV series “Marriage Boot Camp” in 2020.
Styles was sentenced for eight months to Westchester County Jail in 2002. He stabbed a man in a New York nightclub fight in July 2002. He surrendered to authorities on 26 November 2002 and was taken to Westchester County Jail the next day. On 4 August 2003, he was released from prison.
