Charlie Watts was born in Bloomsbury (London, England) on the 2nd June 1941. Charles Richard Watts was his father and Lillian Charlotte was his mother. His father, Richard used to work as a lorry driver for the British railway company, London Midland & Scottish Railway. He was raised with his sister Linda.
Charlie had spent most of his early days in a prefab along with his family since his Wembley’s house was destroyed during World War II by the German bombs. Watts was more interested in jazz music recordings and music. He formed a record label with Dave Green, his childhood friend.
Charlie began to take more interest in drumming at the age of 13. Watts was given his first drum by his parents in 1955. Watts had a large collection of jazz records and spent hours drumming.
He attended Harrow Art School and studied there until 1960. After graduating from the school, Watts began working as a graphic artist at Charlie Daniels Studios. Watts used to find time to play drums in local bands during that time.
